Community Outreach and Digital Presence Development for Flavor Country Urban Diner

Situation:

Flavor Country Urban Diner initially prioritized building community presence and increasing customer traffic, but throughout the project it became clear that deeper issues—such as inconsistent marketing practices, an outdated website, and operational challenges—were limiting their ability to reach that goal

Over time, the client’s priorities shifted from simply “growing the brand” to establishing reliable internal processes, improving staff stability, and creating sustainable systems for outreach and hiring (as reflected in the marketing, website, and staffing sections). A third party should understand that our approach is centered on addressing these foundational gaps so that any outward-facing improvements (like social media or events) would be supported by strong, consistent internal structure.

Flavor Country Urban Diner is a restaurant in the downtown Lafayette area. Being a new restaurant, some challenges that they were facing included operational inconsistencies, website design, and marketing shortcomings. The biggest challenge that Flavor Country wanted addressed was the development of their marketing strategy. Thus, our approach focused on meeting their goals with our focus being mainly on their marketing/brand.

Challenge:

Our client faced a few challenges regarding improving community outreach, consistent social media posting, and website design. Since their website was outdated, it did not properly organize information, menus, or events. Their limited staff also posed challenges when it came to updating social media and engaging with the community. By enhancing their online presence, their larger goal was to better connect with the local community and encourage stronger engagement.

Approach:

Our team began by interpreting Flavor Country Urban Diner’s challenges as stemming from inconsistent marketing practices, an outdated website experience, and operational gaps that limited the owner’s ability to manage growth effectively. To address these issues, we focused heavily on the Marketing and Strategy pillars of Rem, while also incorporating elements of User Experience to improve how customers interacted with the brand both in-person and online. We first researched local restaurant marketing trends, customer expectations, and the diner’s current social media analytics to understand how the brand was being perceived in the community. From there, we created a structured digital presence through reusable social media templates, a consistent posting strategy, and recommendations for event-based engagement to strengthen brand recognition. To improve customer experience and operational reliability, we designed website mock-ups that clarified the brand identity, showcased menu offerings, and simplified key information that diners look for. We also provided staffing and hiring guidance to help stabilize day-to-day operations so the owner could free up time for strategic initiatives. Through this process, our team learned how deeply interconnected marketing, operations, and user experience are in small businesses—and this understanding strengthened Rem’s ability to create tailored, sustainable solutions that genuinely support client growth.

Impact:

Our team successfully delivered all four major solutions identified at the start of the project: a structured marketing intern recommendation, a fully designed website mock-up, a targeted community outreach strategy, and a set of actionable staff stability recommendations. Although Flavor Country Urban Diner ultimately withdrew from the project before implementation, each deliverable was carefully researched, locally tested, and is fully prepared for the client to adopt whenever they choose. Together, these solutions provide a concrete foundation for improving brand visibility, strengthening ties with the local community, increasing operational reliability, and reducing the owner’s day-to-day workload. Even without direct implementation, the collaboration created lasting value by equipping the business with clear, ready-to-use pathways for sustainable growth. This experience also reinforced how Rem’s pillars of Marketing, Strategy, and User Experience can produce meaningful impact—even when client circumstances shift unexpectedly.
